Your Land Could Help Power
Ontario’s Energy Future
SolarBolts works with Ontario landowners to identify properties with potential for solar PV and battery energy storage development. We evaluate land, electrical infrastructure and key development considerations before determining whether a property may be suitable.

How It Works
-
Initial Site Review We review the property’s location, size, configuration, access and proximity to electrical infrastructure.
-
Land Agreement Where a property demonstrates suitable development potential, SolarBolts may discuss an option, lease or other appropriate land-control arrangement with the landowner.
-
Grid & Development Screening SolarBolts evaluates preliminary electrical capacity and key planning, environmental, agricultural and development considerations.
-
Project Development Qualified opportunities may advance through more detailed interconnection, environmental, planning, engineering and permitting processes.
What We Look For
Property Size & Configuration
Sufficient usable acreage and a configuration capable of supporting the proposed project.
Electrical Infrastructure
Practical proximity and potential access to suitable electrical infrastructure.
Access
Reasonable road and site access for development, construction and long-term operation.
Planning & Land Use
Municipal planning, zoning, agricultural considerations and surrounding land uses.
Environmental Considerations
Natural heritage, wetlands, watercourses and other environmental features that may affect development.
Overall Development Potential
The combination of land, grid, technical, regulatory and commercial factors determines whether an opportunity should advance.
Land Agreements
SolarBolts works with landowners to determine an appropriate land arrangement based on the property and proposed opportunity. Depending on the project, this may include an option, long-term lease, purchase or another mutually agreed structure.
Entering a land agreement does not guarantee that a renewable-energy project will ultimately be constructed. Projects remain subject to interconnection, environmental, planning, permitting, technical, commercial and other development requirements.
Landowner FAQ
Suitability depends on multiple factors including property size and configuration, electrical infrastructure, access, planning considerations, environmental constraints and overall project feasibility. SolarBolts performs an initial screening before recommending further development work.
Land requirements vary significantly by technology, project size, site configuration and development constraints. SolarBolts evaluates each property individually rather than relying on acreage alone.
Not necessarily. Depending on the opportunity, SolarBolts may consider options, leases, purchases or other mutually agreed land arrangements.
Utility-scale renewable-energy development is a multi-stage process and timelines vary considerably. Interconnection studies, environmental work, permitting, engineering and commercial requirements can all affect timing.
Commercial terms depend on the property, project structure and land arrangement. SolarBolts discusses proposed terms directly with landowners before any agreement is entered into.
Land agreements should define the parties’ rights and obligations if development does not proceed. SolarBolts reviews the applicable terms with the landowner as part of the agreement process.
Permitted use depends on the development stage and the applicable land agreement. In many cases, existing activities can continue during portions of the development period subject to agreed restrictions.
Contact SolarBolts with the property location and basic information. Our team can conduct an initial review and determine whether further evaluation is warranted.
